The Band of the Mystic Scoundrel is one of the most powerful utility items in Baldur's Gate 3, allowing players to cast illusion and enchantment spells as a bonus action after landing a weapon hit. Because of its unique effect, it dramatically enhances hybrid combat builds like Bards, Paladins, and Arcane Tricksters. However, obtaining this elusive piece of jewelry requires navigating a tricky interaction in Act 3 that many players miss during their initial playthroughs.

Reaching the Circus of the Last Days

To start your search for the ring, you must first reach Act 3 and enter Rivington. Head toward the Circus of the Last Days located near the entrance of the city area. You can gain entry by convincing the guard at the gate or paying the entrance fee.

Once inside the circus grounds, locate the Djinn vendor named Akabi who runs a wheel-spinning game. He charges gold for each spin, but the game is rigged to prevent players from winning the main prize.

Tricking Akabi and Getting Banished

To win the jackpot, you must stop Akabi from cheating by stealing his Mage Hand Ring. Pickpocket the ring using a stealthy character before initiating the wheel spin.

Spin the wheel once the ring is out of his possession, and you will win the grand prize. Infuriated by your victory, Akabi will accuse you of cheating and immediately banish your character to a hidden jungle area.

Navigating the Jungle of Chult

Upon arriving in the dangerous jungle, you will find yourself isolated from the rest of your party. Prepare for potential encounters with hostile dinosaurs as you navigate through the lush environment.

Head toward the southern portion of the zone until you reach a series of rocky ledges and tree roots. Carefully jump across the terrain toward a small abandoned campsite elevated above the path.

Locating the Band of the Mystic Scoundrel

At the camp, look for a humanoid skeleton lying near the back of the area. Next to the skeleton, you will find a backpack containing the Band of the Mystic Scoundrel.

Be sure to grab the ring before exiting through the portal near the end of the region, as you cannot return to the jungle later. Equipping the ring immediately unlocks its powerful spellcasting synergy for your character.
